An important vocation
How can we tackle difficult work while also respecting our limits? Dorcas Cheng-Tozun explores this topic in a unique way through her book Social Justice for the Sensitive Soul. We sit down to talk with Dorcas about the challenges of working toward social change while honoring one’s own particular sensitivities.
“I would imagine that most of us could realize that there is this great intersection between who I am, what I love to do, what I feel called to do, and what I see are the felt and important needs of our communities.”
The important work that professors do in teaching and caring for students can change the world, one person at a time. But it hits home in a new way when that student is your own child. After dropping off her daughter at college for the first time, Jasmine Obeyesekere reflects with gratitude and hope on the powerful vocation of teaching.
“This fall more than ever, I’m grateful for your redeeming presence in the universities and colleges where you serve.”
