The circuitous path
How long does it take to follow a call to its fruition? Some of us have found ourselves traveling circuitous routes in our professional lives, and for many the journey isn’t over yet. But we can find inspiration and encouragement from the stories of others who have found their way. Audrey Chan invites us along her own gloriously winding road into teaching. What does your path look like right now?
“If the call back to teaching math felt like a seed that I carried around for years, then actually teaching now feels like the seed is planted and flourishing.… I know not everyone has the opportunity or privilege to pursue their passion, nor does their desire always translate to a sustainable job or career. So I feel immensely grateful to be working in something I love and feel deeply called to.”
Lent began its own annual journey through our liturgical calendars this past Wednesday, and perhaps its arrival has taken some of us unawares. Do you observe Lent? If you’re curious about finding a way to honor this holy season, take a look at our curated article of Lenten resources, including a few different guides and a reflection by Tish Harrison Warren. Or if you like tons of options, check out all the articles under this tag at The Well. It’s not too late to begin even now!
“It’s sort of an interesting thing that the Christian year circles around, instead of just moving forward to the second coming. We keep remembering the events of the life of Jesus and letting them re-member us — put us back together — as we move forward in time.”
