Trusting the next steps
Saint Patrick’s Day falls on March 17, but (at least this year) March 17 also turns out to be Match Day in the world of medical schools across the United States. What is it like to open that envelope and learn where you’ll be headed for the next season of study and practice? Renee Nicholas offers a prayer to ground us in the truth of God’s goodness and mercy — even when we’re unsure about your destination.
“Lord, we come to you in this time of uncertainty and anticipation. We know that you have led us this far in our journey. Help us trust you in our next steps and remember that you promise never to leave us. ”
But back to Ireland. The story of Saint Brigid of Kildare grounds us in the generosity and provision of God. In this installment from our series on the spiritual practice of visio divina, Karen Guzmán walks us through the process of looking deeply at a piece of art (like a depiction of this Irish saint by Bette Dickinson) and reflecting on the ways Scripture, art, and the Holy Spirt guide us into prayer.
“Whether in the lab, classroom, boardroom, or kitchen, infused by the Spirit of God, our work becomes a vehicle through which we further human flourishing. How might your gifts and passions and skills and calling be used by God to bless those around you and the world God has made?”
