Wisdom and courage
Pursuing new horizons in leadership.
These days, the problems in our world call for leadership that exhibits wisdom and courage. We’re so delighted to announce a new podcast entitled The Wise & Courageous Podcast that will begin to show up every month in The Women Scholars & Professionals Podcast feed. This show is hosted by Nancy Pedulla, a seasoned leadership coach and strategist for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and dear friend of Women Scholars & Professionals. Listen in on the first episode of the series as Nancy interviews sociologist and research leader Ruth López Turley. Ruth talks about how she went from being a child growing up in poverty to being the leader of a unique and pivotal research organization delivering research data to address some of the most critical challenges in Houston. It’s a rich discussion full of spiritual thoughtfulness and practical application. Welcome to the conversation!
“I would like to leave a legacy of hope…. I get a lot of confidence knowing that God will win at the end. I know the end of this story. How amazing that we get that privilege.”
We at The Well have been benefiting for years from Nancy’s own wise and courageous voice encouraging the women leaders among us. We’re reminded of one particularly perceptive article in which Nancy writes on cultivating awareness around those vocal inflections and patterns that can diminish our effectiveness as leaders. The needs of our world demand wise and courageous leaders who can rise up and meet the challenges before us. How might God be calling you to respond to the leadership needs in your own context?
“In a working situation, the use of voice conveys a great deal about authority and leadership. Who has the right to speak, to hold space with their voice? Who asks the questions? Who gives answers?”
A note. If you head to The Well, you might notice a few little things that are different about our website — including a new landing page for Women Scholars & Professionals!
While we’re in the middle of some behind-the-scenes construction, some website features might be on the blink — so let us know if you have trouble finding anything. In the meantime, any new content will be posted here on our Substack page. Thanks for your patience with us!
